The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Our team go to great lengths to create a realistic online duplicate of the real Book of Remembrance. The pages from the book are scanned in our studios, are processed and are then uploaded to the online book of remembrance. This means we display real scans of the calligraphy and artwork present in the book, of which there are hundreds of pages and thousands of entries and artwork which frequently spans many volumes, sometimes dating back over 50 years. As a result of this, to transcribe every line of calligrpahy and describe every emblem for compatibilty with e-readers is unfortunately cost prohibitive.
However we are continually monitoring emerging technology which could potentially help automate this process. At present AI and OCR technologies are not at a suitable level of accuracy to be able to offer good transriptions of the calligraphy - let alone descriptions of the emblem artwork, however it is our goal to continually review and improve the websites and we hope this could be a possibility soon as these technologies improve in accuracy.
Should you have issues viewing your family entry and would like us to send you a digital transcript of this - please contact us on 0137 2274386 or at [email protected] and we will arrange to email you this.
It’s not always possible to change the device orientation from horizontal to vertical without making it more difficult to view the content.
